About SR 2020

Sensing Rivers (SR 2020) is a three-day virtual workshop on satellite remote sensing applications in water resources engineering. SR 2020 will encourage collaboration between participants, and provides extensive opportunities each day for participants to work with each other to build their skills with water data. Participants will also learn about open source technologies to use satellite remote sensing datasets.

When: September 21st – 23rd 2020 (08:00 AM – 11:30 AM US Pacific Time | 05:00 PM - 08:30 PM Local Time in Egypt)
Where: Virtual via Video Conferencing Platform (e.g., Zoom Meetings or Microsoft Teams)

Recommended Perquisite Skills

Background on hydrology and water resources management.
Programming skills (Python, Matlab, or Fortran).
Experience with analysis of water data.

Important Dates

Application Submission Deadline: August 21st, 2020.
Notification of Acceptance: September 2nd, 2020.
Agenda Available: September 14th, 2020.
Workshop Kickoff: September 21st, 2020 at 05:00 PM (Local Time in Egypt: GMT+2)

SR 2020 Application

If interested in participating, please fill out the SR 2020 application. Application is free but required. When you submit an application, please note this does not confirm your participation in the workshop.
Approximately 15 students will be selected to participate in the workshop. We limit the class size in order to provide a meaningful and worthwhile experience for each participant. We welcome applications from researchers from all domains of water-related study, at all stages in their careers, as well as from government, non-profit and private industry.
We particularly encourage requests to attend from graduate students (masters or PhD students) participants and people who are new to remote sensing and data-driven science. We will contact applicants and advise on the status of their application by September 2nd, 2020.
